Editorial Standards

How We Review AI Tools

The exact process behind every rating and recommendation on Velkar AI — so you can judge our judgments.

The rubric

Every tool we cover is evaluated against the same five criteria, in the same order, regardless of category or how well-known the vendor is:

What the ratings mean

Editorial scores are set once, deliberately, and reused consistently across the site — the score you see for a tool on the directory, a review card, and a comparison table is always the same number. Where we haven't yet formed a full editorial score, we label coverage honestly as a "First look," "Head-to-head," or "Group test" instead of inventing a rating. Tools cannot pay to be listed, ranked, or scored — there is no sponsored placement anywhere on Velkar AI.

How we verify pricing

Every price, plan limit, and free-tier claim is checked against the vendor's own pricing page at the time of writing, and each article notes when it was last updated. We spell out the fine print vendors bury — "billed annually" asterisks, per-task pricing that changes the math at volume, and trials that auto-convert to paid plans. Pricing changes frequently in this market; if a published number no longer matches the vendor's page, that's a correction we want to make — tell us.

How we use AI

We cover AI tools and we use them: AI assists with gathering pricing data, summarizing documentation and changelogs, and producing first drafts. A human then plans, fact-checks, and edits every article before it is published — factual claims are verified against primary sources, and the editorial verdicts are human decisions. We think that's the honest division of labor, and we'd rather disclose it plainly than pretend otherwise.

What we don't do

Corrections

When we get something wrong — a stale price, a discontinued plan, a feature we mischaracterized — we correct the article and update its "Updated" date. Spotted an error? Contact us with the article link and what's wrong; corrections are reviewed by the editor personally.

Who's accountable

Velkar AI Tools is run by its founding editor, who reviews and is responsible for every published verdict. Read more about the site and its standards on our About page.
