Every app store expects a specific set of icon sizes, and getting one wrong is a common cause of build rejections. This tool generates the whole set from a single image, but it helps to know what you're getting.
iOS and iPadOS use an AppIcon.appiconset — a folder of PNGs (from 20 pt up to the 1024 px App Store icon) plus a Contents.json that tells Xcode which file is which. You drag the whole folder into your Xcode asset catalogue and it's ready. macOS uses the same catalogue format with its own sizes, from 16 to 1024 px.
Android is different: it uses mipmap folders — mdpi, hdpi, xhdpi, xxhdpi and xxxhdpi — each holding an ic_launcher.png from 48 to 192 px, plus a separate 512 px playstore.png for the Play Store listing. The tool also outputs web favicons (16–512 px and an apple-touch-icon) with a ready-to-paste snippet.
A few design tips for icons that pass review and look good at every size: start from a square 1024×1024 master, keep the artwork opaque (Apple rejects transparent app icons), avoid tiny text, and keep the important part of the design away from the very edges so it survives the rounded-corner mask.
